Fibromyalgia Causes and Remeadies

Introduction

Fibromyalgia is a disease or medical condition that cannot be identified with confirmation. Fibromyalgia commonly features wide spread chronic pain in tender parts of the body. It can also include an acute painful response to applied pressure. Although there are no known causes for the disease age, mental disturbances, hereditary reasons and even environmental factors contribute to the disease formation. It is commonly accepted that a person’s environment in which he works or lives and the gene pattern that is handed down through generations have a large influence on the occurrence of the disease. The same genes that are cause for depression and mental disorders are also responsible for this disease. Although not recognized as a disease by medical bodies it is commonly referred to as a physical disorder that has acute responses from the affected person. The analysis of bran patters of individuals affected with fibromyalgia and healthy person revealed that patients have a brain pattern that s quite distinct and unique than the rest. Hence, it is worthwhile to conclude the disease is more of a mental disorder due to a variety of reasons than actually physical disorders.

Causes

Fibromyalgia can be caused due to a variety of reasons like hereditary hormonal imbalances, abusive lifestyle pattern, lack of sleep, mental disorders, physical stress of traumatic experiences, etc. Although not completely proven, scientists and medical professional claim that genetic conditions can lead to this medical condition where the patient can feel in certain regions of the body like their parents or near siblings. Improper lifestyle that includes unhealthy food habits, inadequate rest, excessive consumption of abusive materials, wrong body postures can also lead to fibromyalgia. Obesity and lack of proper exercise regimes are also accounted as factors that lead to this medical condition. Inability to sleep or unhealthy sleep patterns are also causes of the disease which if left unattended will result in further complications like depression and serious mental disorders. A person who undergoes prolonged period of depression or low state of mind can be induced to feel that his body is weakening. They might also start to feel pain when actually there is no actual pain in their bodies. Physical traumatic experiences can also induce in them feelings of pain that can be cured through proper counseling and mental care.

Symptoms

The common symptoms of fibromyalgia are lack of proper sleep, constant feeling of tiredness, acute pain, a tingling sensation of skin, muscle sores and back aches, excess sweating, etc. The patient displays constant tiredness even without undergoing any kind of physical activity. In fact, they begin to show inactivity and reluctance towards any task that requires endurance of physical effort. Problems with remembering important daily routines are also seen in patients. Although majorly a mental disorder, patients might also display sluggishness and a delay in responding to normal activities. They tend to lose focus and hence become unable to take up activities that requires multi-tasking or co-ordination. Constant headaches that cannot be classified as migraine are also serious symptoms of fibromyalgia. The major symptom of the disease increase in pain in body regions like neck, shoulders, hips, low back, arm joints, etc. Quite often they might also be unable t point out where the pain exactly is as their mental capacity to focus is also reduced significantly. A lack of focus and attention is also most prevailing symptoms of fibromyalgia although they are symptoms of other mental diseases and disorders too.

Diagnosis

Fibromyalgia does have a single or comprehensive that can confirm the existence of the disease or health condition. As a matter of fact in many cases lab test results have given a perfect health condition for many individuals other than those symptoms that relate to osteoporosis or arthritis. The common practice of doctors to diagnose this disease is to use a diagnostic method known as “differential diagnosis”. The doctors consider the possibility of all types of symptoms in the patient like age, environment of living, gender, working conditions, past mental disturbances, instances of physical stress or traumatic experiences, past medication, childhood experiences, etc. The results of the diagnosis are then shortened to one or two symptoms which are then studied in detail to arrive at a conclusion. The American College of Rheumatology (ACR) released what is known as the “ACR 1990” in medical circles to identify the presence of fibromyalgia. The symptoms of the disease as per ACR are presence of acute pain in body regions without any underlying physical reason. The feeling of acute pain or teaching in eighteen tender points in the body which are otherwise unaffected by any other physical disorder. However, at present the number of tender points are not considered and any feeling of pain in the body parts are considered to trace the symptom of the disease.
